Before you northern hemispherites get a bent nose about the title, we are actually have summer solstice on Dec 21 (opposite seasons). I was quite lucky to catch this rainbow. I had the messenger go off on my laptop - which was on my sofa next to my window. I was cooking dinner and when I went to my laptop - i saw this massive rainbow outside my window.

  1. Hello vonnagy,

Just noted that you have quit coming to thephotoforum.com. A moment ago I was reading an old advice post from you and followed the link to your site. I’m quite happy you are still doing photography in the beautiful New Zealand. :-)

Miss most your past TPF posts on master photograhers. Keep it up in the New Year.

  4. Nice effect. How did you get the buildings to slope inwards like that? If you are using Photoshop, it would be very interesting to know how you used it here?

  5. Hello susan, thanks for your comment :) The building sloping in are actually not photoshop’d in this case but rather its known as ‘barrel distortion’ that is frequently found in wide angle lenses. I use a 15mm-30mm lens - I believe the focal length was 15mm for this shot. I hope that’s helpful. ~ m

  6. Sorry I have to correct you. December 21 would still be Winter. Just because the sun in in the Northern sky does not mean the seasons are different. You still will have just come out of fall and be in winter.
