Kia Ora! My name is Mark and I welcome you to
browse my New Zealand website. I hope you enjoy
the images of this country, there is so much to
see and photograph here - it is truly a photographers
paradise!
I was born on December 27th, 1974 in Toccoa,
Georgia in the US to an Austrian father and an
American Mother. I was raised by my Viennese grandmother
and I can still speak a bit of broken German with
a "Wienerisch Dialekt". As a family
we traveled a lot and I have many fond memories
of traveling to Europe and across the United States.
However, it wasn't until I took a three month
holiday to Australia that the desire to live overseas
was kindled. After the life changing trip to the
fabled land down under, I applied for my residency
visa. It took nearly two years to process; not
to mention some bungling of papers by various
lawyers, immigration agents and the thief who
stole my passport three days after I was granted
the visa!
So how did I end up in New Zealand?
I moved to this fabulous country on July 20th,
2002. I always get asked the question, "Why
did you move to New Zealand" - to which I
now reply "It was destiny!" I had originally
planned to go to New Zealand on a holiday, before
I started my job hunt in Sydney, Australia. A
two week vacation ended up as two month vacation.
After a while, I rented a tiny sleepout in Glendowie,
Auckland and decided to stay put! I had found
work as a contractor and then ended up getting
a permanent job as programmer for a fantastic
little web development company called Webenz.
So things just fell into place! I've met some
great friends here and have had some incredible
experiences. And of course, I've taken heaps of
photos of New Zealand for you to enjoy!
All the Best!
